This week’s episode of WWE SmackDown Live kicked off with a heartbreaking announcement. Daniel Bryan informed the fans that Naomi will be out of action for more than 30 days and she was then forced to relinquish her title.
Naomi handed the title over to Daniel Bryan with tears in her eyes and it was truly a tough moment to watch. After she gave up the belt she left the ring and then Alexa Bliss made her way out to confront Daniel Bryan.
Alexa Bliss told Daniel Bryan that since she’s the former SmackDown Women’s Champion he should just give the belt back to her. Daniel Bryan disagreed and he booked a SmackDown Women’s Title match between Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch and Becky made her way down to the ring to start the contest.
The announcement was bittersweet, but also exciting because it was guaranteed that we would see a new SmackDown Women’s Champion by the end of the match.
The two ladies have become quite familiar with each other over the past few months and they wasted no time getting down to business. The match was pretty even for the most part but it was Alexa Bliss who got the win.
The finish came when Alexa Bliss grabbed the ring apron as Becky Lynch was trying to grab her feet. The ref then went to fix the apron and Alexa hit Becky in the throat then rolled her up for the win.
Alexa Bliss is now a two time SmackDown Women’s Champion.
