Alberto El Patron and Paige were like the Bonnie and Clyde of pro wrestling while they were a couple. Not only were they entertaining and fascinating but fans really care about both of them separately which meant their relationship was of a very special interest.
Alberto recently appeared on Konnan’s Keeping It 100 podcast where he went into detail about why he and Paige decided to call it quits.
“We were not seeing each other and because she was training and getting ready to go back they were not letting her go to San Antonio, I couldn’t go to Orlando because I have three little kids and I was coming home two or three days and I had to choose between going to Orlando or staying with my kids so of course, I decided to stay with my kids.”
Alberto commented by saying he and Paige had agreed not to talk about their break up but someone from Paige’s side let it slide via social media. Although it was taken down quickly, he says news of the breakup still got out there.
El Patron said he and Paige had spoken about going public with their breakup while in Canada during Impact Wrestling’s Bound For Glory event and she wanted it to remain a private situation. So you could tell it irked him a little bit that he got out via her side.
Alberto went on to say how it’s always something from Paige’s side like her family or friends and placed a little blame on Paige for letting the information slip. He said he’s tired of having things come out from her side that negatively affects him.
“We ended it on good terms. She wants the best for me. I want the best for her. I know she’s going to be the most successful Diva in history. She has all the talents and we had an amazing relationship and I just wanna say one thing: the haters, they never broke us. We decided to do this because it’s the best for our careers and my kids.”
Although these two seem to have split up and have no hard feelings out of the separation, there’s always the chance there’s a tinge of resentment there. Of course, this is just his side of things so take it for what it’s worth because only he and Paige probably really know what went on in this situation.
All we know is that Alberto is happy to see Paige back in WWE doing what she loves and we’re very happy to see her as well.
