Alberto Del Rio recently spoke to WrestleTalk TV about his WWE departure.
“As you guys know I got fired because I stand up for myself against a (expletive) racist prick,” said Del Rio. “He tried to make a joke against Mexicans and I wasn’t going to let that happen.”
Del Rio was released after striking Cody Barbierri, who is now also gone from the promotion. While initially settling for a three week suspension, Del Rio was instead fired, with the possibility of a return. Del Rio told Triple H he had no interest in returning to WWE if their phone call ended with him being released.
“The guy said he was going to sue the company, and for that reason the company let me go,” Del Rio said.
“I was struggling for months to get this off of my chest,” said Del Rio. “I was worried about these guys coming after me and ruining my kids’ future, but I have the right people behind me.”
