Alberto Del Rio No Shows Impact vs. Lucha Underground Event

Friday night wrestling fans all around the world were watching the WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony on the WWE Network, but that certainly wasn’t the only wrestling related event that took place in New Orleans.

The stars of Impact Wrestling and Lucha Underground faced off during the Impact vs. Lucha Underground event, but one of Impact’s top stars was mysteriously absent.

Alberto El Patron was set to face off against Penta 0M to face Austin Aries and Rey Fenix, but Alberto didn’t show up and the match was changed to a triple threat which caused the fans to chant, “F*** Del Rio.”

According to PWInsider, the word backstage among the wrestlers is that Alberto no showed the event, but one source from Impact claimed that they had reached out to the former World Champion who said he had gotten sick.

Alberto did appear at the press conference for the event earlier in the day and got into a heated exchange with Austin Aries which saw him speed off in a car, but the exchange was reportedly part of the show and did not have anything to do with the changes made to the match.

Alberto is still currently being advertised to face Austin Aries in the main event of Impact’s Redemption pay-per-view on April 22nd.
