The Greatest Royal Rumble got a lot of attention from around the world but it looks like they also gained some notoriety from a different group of people who they might not have considered when embarking on their groundbreaking deal with the Saudi Arabians.
The Independent reports that the Saudi Crowned Prince has received a threat from Al-Qaeda due to not only the fact the newly Crowned Prince reopened the nation’s movie theaters but also because they housed a WWE event.
The happening where women were accidentally shown to the audience in Jeddah was also mentioned but greatly embellished along with the overall theme of the event as the terror group continued their threatening message by saying: “[Foreign] disbelieving wrestlers exposed their privates and on most of them was the sign of the cross, in front of a mixed gathering of young Muslim men and women.”
If you watched the Greatest Royal Rumble like a lot of people did then you know there was no exposing of privates or signs of the cross. There was a moment when Triple H stood over John Cena and did the DX “suck it” crotch chop which is teasing a capital offense in Saudi Arabia, but that was about it.
They continued talking about the fact that the new Crowned Prince of Saudi Arabia also holds concerts and other events saying: “The corruptors did not stop at that, for every night musical concerts are being announced, as well as movies and circus shows.”
Hopefully nothing awful results from this but as WWE’s global influence spreads they might find a hard time doing business in some countries if radical groups are going to use scare tactics like this. It really is a shame they are acting in this way about WWE but that is the world we live in.
