In a recent interview with Tom Clark of ThisIsInfamous.com, AJ Styles spoke candidly about his time in TNA, his return to Ring of Honor, how he hopes to contribute to the company and video games. You can read some highlights below.
On how he thinks TNA can get back on track:
“I have no idea because I don’t know what track they’re on. I don’t know how well they’re doing. I don’t know how they’re doing at all. You’d think a guy that had been there for so long would know about the business part of TNA, but I don’t. My job was to wrestle and do what they tell me to do and that’s exactly what I did.”
Has he and ROH came to a long-term agreement:
“Not yet. I think that’s still a work in progress to see how much we’re going to work together. I mean it may be one of those deals where it will be my new home, and I have a lot of respect for Ring of Honor so if that’s the case then I’m all about it and in helping them grow. Cause that’s the bottom line, is that we do have the relationship where I can help them get better and bigger and that’s exactly what I’m going to do. And it’s not something that I’m just saying, because there are a lot of people who have done that, said they want to help a business grow but maybe they were out for the money or what not, that’s not the case, sure I want to make money, but if the business grows that’s exactly what’s going to happen, everyone will get to make a little bit more money.”
On the finish to his match with Roderick Strong:
“We had an amazing match. It was a really great match and while people may say the Styles Clash was botched, I say you’re wrong, it was a finish, a gruesome finish at that. No mistake by me was done what so ever, there was no foot that slipped, there was nothing that I changed it was exactly the way it should have been on my part. That’s basically it.”
