Throughout 2020 many stars from the wrestling world took to streaming platforms such as Twitch as a way to connect with fans during quarantine, and Twitch streams became all the rage in the wrestling community.
Unfortunately for WWE stars it was revealed a few months ago that the company would be issuing a new edict banning them from third party platforms such as Twitch and Cameo.
During a recent interview with Inside The Ropes AJ Styles confirmed that he met directly with Vince McMahon about the ban, but the meeting didn’t do much to change McMahon’s mind.
“I did [meet Vince McMahon over the third party ban. Myself, Xavier Woods, and Sasha Banks had a sit down meeting in Connecticut about this situation. By the end of the meeting, it was determined that this [points at his face] is intellectual property.”
The Phenomenal One went on to say that he wasn’t happy when he found out about the ban, but he’s willing to follow Vince McMahon’s lead.
“I was already streaming and doing my thing. But it was during my time off, and not while working. So, they [WWE] examined it [the situation]. I wasn’t happy about it [the ban], no one really was. But, it is what it is. I’ll handle it the way that I have to. I’m a team player, he [Vince] is the captain. I’ll follow his lead as far as Vince is concerned.”
Styles also noted that WWE is currently working out a deal with Twitch so that their talents can return to the streaming platform.
