AJ Styles walked down the entrance ramp for the second time at WrestleMania 33 and he kicked off the show with the commissioner of SmackDown Live, Shane McMahon.
Styles toyed with McMahon and played mind games as soon as the bell rang, and they quickly locked up and Styles got the upper hand then taunted Shane McMahon. It was clear that Styles threw Shane off his game, and McMahon tried to compose himself then he got some offense in. This match was just a traditional wrestling match, so Shane tried his best to show off his grappling skills.
The Orlando crowd was clearly behind AJ Styles and they were chanting for him throughout the match. Styles hit a baseball slide to the outside and sent Shane flying over the announce table.
Back in the ring Styles went for the Phenomenal Forearm, but Shane knocked him off the top and then followed up with some strikes to AJ’s upper body. Shane followed up with a suplex then the Angle Slam, but AJ kicked out.
Styles got the upper hand and tried to put Shane away with the Calf Crusher, but Shane turned it into a rear naked choke then an armbar. AJ and Shane traded pins then knocked each other down with a double clothesline.
AJ went for a springboard 450 splash, but Shane turned it into a triangle choke hold. Styles got him up for the Styles Clash, but Shane kicked out.
They traded strikes as the crowd cheered AJ Styles and booed Shane McMahon. In the corner AJ Styles accidentally knocked out the referee then took Shane out with a Pele Kick. Styles then grabbed some trash cans and threw them in the ring.
AJ set Shane up in the corner with the trash can for coast to coast, but Shane threw the can in AJ’s face then he used the other trash can to set AJ up for coast to coast. Shane pulled off coast to coast and the crowd went wild. The referee then woke up and counted the pin, but AJ kicked out at 2.
Shane then started taking the announce table apart and placed AJ on it. McMahon went for the below from the top but AJ rolled out of the way and then rolled Shane back in the ring. Styles went for the Phenomenal Forearm but Shane turned it into a DDT then went to the top rope for a shooting star press, but Styles rolled out of the way.
Styles then followed up with the Phenomenal Forearm for the win.
