It’s time that of year when the new WWE 2K game arrives and last week WWE 2K26 was officially released. The WWE 2K series has its fair share of fans, but it appears that AJ Styles is not one of them.

During a recent episode of his Phenomenally Retro Podcast, AJ Styles shared his thoughts on modern wrestling games, and he explained why they are simply too much for him.

“The more buttons you introduce, the harder a game is going to be to learn. If you’re not a fan, you’re not going to be willing to spend that time in the lab getting better and taking hours to learn it. The new 2K games are too much for me. I don’t want to spend all that time.

I did a tournament where a guy was going to wrestle me in a 2K game for a million dollars. I was like, ‘Guys, I don’t know how to play the game. I don’t know how to play the game.’ So he just murdered me because I didn’t know what I was doing.”

AJ Styles officially retired from in-ring competition after he was defeated by Gunther in a career threatening match at the Royal Rumble premium live event back in January. The Phenomenal One recently revealed his new role with WWE and you can get more on that here.
