It was a big weekend for professional wrestling as the annual Bound For Glory pay-per-view aired live from Detroit, MI. Rhino and Bob Ryder were were also inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame.
Fightful Select recently reported that AJ Styles was considered for a Hall of Fame induction this year, but that WWE ended up passing on the idea. The report noted that it wasn’t clear why WWE passed. However, some people in TNA believed that it may have been because of AJ’s injury or an ongoing storyline.
Recently AJ Styles took to social media to clarify that he’s the one who turned down the induction. The Phenomenal One explained that he doesn’t want to be inducted into any Hall of Fame while he’s still active when he posted the following:
“I’m still an active wrestler…I hope. I made the decision not to go into the TNA HOF, not WWE. I appreciate TNA, but I don’t want to go into any HOF as long as I’m still active. My choice”
AJ Styles returned to the ring earlier this month when he faced off against Carmelo Hayes on SmackDown. Following the match AJ Styles confirmed that he suffered a Lisfranc injury. There’s currently no word on when he could be back in action.
