For years AJ Styles told fans that SmackDown Live was the house he built, but recently Styles was sent to Raw during the Superstar Shake-Up.
The former WWE Champion wasted little time going after the top title on the red brand, and on Sunday night he challenged Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship at Money In The Bank.
In the end it was Seth Rollins who walked out with the belt after he defeated Styles, but the match has been receiving positive reviews from the wrestling community.
After the match was over AJ Styles showed respect to Seth Rollins, and he revealed to Newsweek exactly what he said to The Architect.
“I told Seth I was right when I said 13 years ago that he would be something special in this business. We both respected each other that was never in question. It was two guys, two egos and a lot of testosterone that you’re going to get a fight when two big dogs get next to each other. Tempers go awry and next thing you know we’re fighting and it is what it is, but when it’s over and someone comes out the better man you shake hands.”
It was recently announced that Mick Foley will be introducing a new title belt on Raw, and while talking about the new championship Styles noted that he’s looking forward to it.
“When a new championship is involved you can’t help but look at it and say, ‘you know that’s not a bad idea.’ Competitors are going to compete and they will come out, I’m sure it’ll be interesting. I look forward to it.”
