AJ Styles is making his WrestleMania debut today and ahead of the big event he spoke to Mike Jones of DC101. You can check out the full interview here and read a few highlights below.
Styles will be wrestling Chris Jericho tonight in his WrestleMania debut. Everyone’s thrilled that Styles will finally be performing on the grandest stage of them all, but no one is more excited that AJ Styles himself.
“I saw it (the set) being built, which is unbelievable. But just to sit in the stands and just see how huge AT&T Stadium is, that’s unbelievable. And the fact that there will be people packed in there like sardines… Oh man, that’s exciting!”
He also talked about his WWE debut at the Royal Rumble and he revealed that he originally hoped to come out second.
“I remember telling Triple H, “Hey, number 2 sounds pretty good to me!” Because I would love to have that entrance and he goes, “hey, you’re going out number 3.” Oh, that’s great, that’s cool. And the way they did it, where Rusev got eliminated pretty quickly, I had the stage all to myself. You couldn’t ask for a better debut.”
Chris Jericho started a rivalry with AJ as soon as he arrived in WWE and now that rivalry has led them to WrestleMania 32. Styles says that he’s happy to be wrestling Jericho at the show of shows.
“Jericho and I are very much alike. Went through the same roads to get where we’re at, wrestled all over the world. Jericho says he is the best in the world at what he does and you can’t really disagree with him, the guy’s been there, done that. I’m just happy to get in the ring with him and happy to have the opportunity at Wrestlemania!”
