The wrestling world has been talking a lot about retirements lately as John Cena retired following his match with Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event last month and Hiroshi Tanahashi also recently retired after facing off against Kazuchika Okada at Wrestle Kingdom.

AJ Styles has made it clear that he is planning to retire from in-ring competition in 2026, but the exact date for his retirement is unknown at this point in time.

The Phenomenal One has been part of the WWE roster since 2016 and unless something drastic happens it appears that he intends to finish up his career with WWE. However, there are some fans out there who were still holding out hope for AJ to have a run in AEW.

One fan recently posted a tweet saying that AJ Styles should have retired in AEW, but chose the WWE money instead. The tweet caught the attention of The Phenomenal One who responded with the following:

“I’ll take dumbest things to ever have been said for 100 Alex.”

Recently AJ has been competing in the tag team division alongside Dragon Lee. They were the WWE World Tag Team Champions until the duo dropped the belts to The Usos on Raw last week. There’s currently no word on what’s next for AJ Styles now that he’s no longer holding tag team gold.
