There’s been a lot of talk about AEW contracts over the last few weeks, and it was recently reported that Cody Rhodes is not currently under contract with AEW. Cody recently doubled down on the notion that he doesn’t have a contract after he was defeated by Sammy Guevara at Beach Break and he claimed he’s working with AEW on a handshake deal.
The former TNT Champion has been claiming that he’s currently a free agent, but during a recent interview with Wrestling Inc. Managing Editor Nick Hausman The Phenomenal AJ Styles questioned that claim.
“Well, I think I read it on your website that he said he wasn’t coming back. I don’t know about that. Cody, I am going to call you out man, I don’t know about that one. Because, you’re able to do independents while working for AEW, right? So what’s the difference?
While talking about whether or not he would like to see Cody Rhodes make an appearance in the 30 man Royal Rumble match AJ Styles said, “Of course. Who wouldn’t?”
AJ Styles will be competing in the 30 man Royal Rumble match, and the Royal Rumble will air live on Saturday, January 29th. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
