WWE Champion AJ Styles was supposed to defend his title against James Ellsworth on SmackDown this week, but the match didn’t happen as WWE did an angle that made it look like James Ellsworth was too sick to compete.
Styles didn’t compete on SmackDown last week either due to the minor ankle injury he suffered at TLC, and now he’s been pulled from more WWE live events. AJ Styles is no longer being advertised for this weekend’s live events in Peterborough, ON, Barrie, ON, or Hamilton, ON.
AJ Styles is still being advertised for the live event at Madison Square Garden live event which is supposed to take place on Monday, December 26.
Although the advertised WWE Championship match between AJ Styles and James Ellsworth didn’t take place on SmackDown this week, a new number 1 contender was named.
Dolph Ziggler fought in a fatal 4-way elimination match which also featured Dean Ambrose, Luke Harper and The Miz. It came down to Dolph and Dean and Dolph put Ambrose away with the superkick.
