For months now it’s been reported that Shane McMahon and AJ Styles will be facing off against each other at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando, and WWE advanced their feud in a big way this week.
At the beginning of the show, Styles cut a promo and aired his grievances with Shane McMahon, then he made his way backstage and waited for the Commissioner to arrive. As soon as Shane entered the building, AJ ambushed him and smashed his head into a car window.
As AJ Styles was trying to leave the arena, General Manager Daniel Bryan stopped him and told him that he was fired.
Although Daniel Bryan fired AJ Styles on SmackDown, he’ll still be wrestling a SmackDown star at WrestleMania 33, as Shane McMahon announced at the end of the show that he’ll be AJ’s opponent on April 2nd.
According to PWInsider, there’s some speculation that WWE may have fired AJ Styles as a way to move him over to the Raw brand after he faces Shane at WrestleMania 33.
WWE also posted the following on WWE.com confirming that AJ’s status is up in the air:
“Is The Phenomenal One still fired from the blue brand or does the Commissioner’s supposed challenge put him back on the roster and into an intensely-personal match at The Ultimate Thrill Ride?”
This week’s episode of SmackDown Live certainly sent mixed messages to the fans in regards to what the future holds for AJ Styles. It will be interesting to see how the situation is handled in the weeks to come, as there are only two more episodes of SmackDown set to air before WrestleMania 33.
And there you go… smackdown is starting to look good, take away their best performer.
If this happens before the draft and with smackdown getting nothing back, it is clear for us that smackdown will be disrespected again and it will never get a chance to compete with RAW.
