After taking a few days off for Christmas Eve and Christmas, the Superstars of WWE returned to action on Wednesday night, but one key player was missing from SmackDown’s lineup.
Former WWE Champion AJ Styles was not able to compete on Wednesday night during the WWE live event at the Allstate Arena, and it’s been reported that the Phenomenal One is dealing with the flu.
Styles missed another WWE live event on Thursday night, as he wasn’t able to compete at the event in Uniondale, NY.
Originally AJ Styles was set to face Daniel Bryan in a steel cage match for the WWE Title, but he was replaced by John Cena.
AJ Styles is out with the flu, so it’s John Cena vs Daniel Bryan in a steel cage match for the WWE title. It’s so good to have @JohnCena back! #WWEUniondale pic.twitter.com/uM8xz41TG8

Daniel Bryan retained his title, and after the match John Cena grabbed a mic and spoke to the fans in attendance.
