The year has almost come to an end and whilst the next televised SmackDown Live show is in 2018, it seems that WWE wants to go out with a bang when it comes to their final SmackDown Live event in Tampa, Florida this weekend.
Earlier today WWE shared a clip on their Instagram account where AJ Styles talks about defending his WWE Championship in a triple threat match against both Jinder Mahal and John Cena in his final title defense of 2017 at the upcoming WWE live event in Tampa on Saturday.
Even though this is just a WWE live event, titles have been known to change hands as part of these shows before as WWE attempts to boost ticket sales for their non-televised events.
It is highly unlikely that WWE would allow John Cena to make history and become a 17-time World Champion at a WWE Live Event and not as part of one of their pay-per-views and since Jinder is one of the current favourites to win the United States Championship tournament, it’s obvious that he has now been pushed back down to the mid-card.
Stranger things have happened in WWE and with the Royal Rumble now less than a month away and WrestleMania on the horizon, it seems that everything is going to start taking shape ahead fo the biggest event of the year over the next few weeks.
