AJ Styles is the current WWE United States Champion, and he’s set to defend his title against Baron Corbin on Sunday night at Hell in a Cell. AJ has been one of the top stars on SmackDown Live ever since he was drafted to the blue brand last summer, but fans have noticed that he hasn’t been wrestling on the show lately.
AJ has been appearing on SmackDown Live, but he hasn’t been getting physical. According to the Wrestling Observer, the reason why AJ Styles hasn’t been wrestling on SmackDown Live is because WWE officials have been saving him for dark matches after 205 Live to make sure people don’t leave during the 205 Live tapings.
This isn’t surprising as there’s usually a portion of the audience that leaves the arena after SmackDown Live is taped.
Styles has been feuding with Baron Corbin for weeks now, and they’re set to collide at Hell in a Cell. Tye Dillinger picked up a big win over Baron Corbin on SmackDown Live this week, and he’s been trying to work his way into the US Title picture as well, so it should be interesting to see where the title scene goes after this Sunday.
Hopefully it will lead to more matches on SmackDown for AJ.
