You never want to hear a WWE Superstar is injured especially when it’s someone as crucial to WWE’s top storylines as AJ Styles. But it looks like The Phenonomal One might have gone down with an injury and apparently it could have taken place even before the big show at Madison Square Garden when the WWE Universe was first made aware of his issue.
Styles did a run-in to chase off Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens in an effort to save Shinsuke Nakamura when all was said and done in MSG, but he could still be injured. A lot of people were led to believe he was okay, but the fact is Styles was also pulled from the house show on the following night and that’s not a good sign at all.
“So last night at The Garden, Madison Square Garden it was supposed to be AJ Styles and Nakamura against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn,” Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio. “It turned into a singles match with Nakamura against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn interfered and AJ did make the save and he was there. They actually did an injury angle before the match.”
Although it might have appeared that Styles suffered an injury in the World’s Most Famous Arena, he could have walked into MSG with an injury and this was WWE’s way of covering for it.
“But tonight, I didn’t know if that was — I mean people said there was probably an injury. The injury was probably suffered beforehand and this was an angle set up to cover for it and then tonight in Odesa, Styles wasn’t there and they actually announced before the show that Styles was injured in Madison Square Garden so that’s really all I know right now. I don’t know the severity, I’ll probably know more in the morning.”
The fact is this is yet another wait and see kind of situation in pro wrestling and we all love those, right? In a day and age of instant gratification we never want to wait for anything, let alone to see if someone like AJ Styles will be able to work WrestleMania.
Let’s just hope for the best though.
