Jon Moxley parted ways with WWE back in April, and he got a lot of people talking a few weeks ago when he attacked Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega at AEW Double or Nothing in Las Vegas.
Moxley got people talking once again earlier this week when he made his way to New Japan Pro Wrestling and defeated Juice Robinson to become the new IWGP United States Champion.
In a few weeks Jon Moxley will wrestle his debut match for AEW when he faces Joey Janela at Fyter Fest, and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that it hasn’t been decided whether or not All Elite Wrestling will acknowledge his IWGP US Title reign.
The key points are that NJPW has no relation with AEW, but they do have close ties to ROH, which is a competitor for AEW.
However, a huge percentage of AEW fans are likely aware of Moxley’s title reign, and to not acknowledge it would be to ignore the elephant in the room.
AEW is focused on very few belts with the idea of keeping belts important. They did feature the AAA Tag Team Titles at Double or Nothing, but AAA is a partner of AEW.
It will be interesting to see how the situation is handled when Jon Moxley makes his way to Daytona Beach for Fyter Fest on 6/29.
