Recently there’s been a lot of talk about The Lucha Bros. as Penta’s deal with AEW recently expired. However, Rey Fenix’s deal has been extended due to injury time. It’s been rumored that Tony Khan extended the deal after finding out that The Lucha Bros. were planning to jump to WWE when they became free agents, but it sounds like there might be more to the store.
Dr. Chris Featherstone is reporting that an AEW source has claimed, “The alleged excuse that Tony Khan found out about Lucha Brothers [being] in talks with WWE is ‘fake news,’ and the real reason [will be] revealed.”
It’s also being reported that there is a “real story” behind the Rey Fenix situation which is said to be a “huge injustice.” The expectation is that the Lucha Bros. will go into detail about their run with All Elite Wrestling once they are free and clear. A source noted that it’s “going to be ugly” when they finally open up.
