There are a number of wrestlers under contract with AEW who are currently sitting on the sidelines. Rey Fenix happens to be one of them and his status with the company has been a very hot topic over the last few months.

Last year it was reported that The Lucha Bros. were likely WWE bound once their AEW deals expired. Penta made his debut on Raw this week, but Rey Fenix is still with AEW as injury time was added to his deal.

It’s worth noting that while Rey Fenix is still listed on the roster page on AEW Shop, his profile now leads to a page showing an error message with no merchandise displayed.

Following Penta’s big debut on Raw this week Fenix took to social media to congratulate his brother when he posted the following:

“Congratulations bro ❤️

Without a doubt MY FAVORITE FIGHTER!
You deserve all the best for all you’ve worked for, the #1 FIGHTER.
I am very proud to be your brother and see how you have achieved all your dreams, I LOVE YOU ❤️ and FEAR.”

Rey Fenix last appeared on AEW programming when he defeated Tony Nese on the 7/20/2024 episode of AEW Collision. He last wrestled at a CMLL event on 7/26/2024.

There’s currently no word on if AEW is planning to use Rey Fenix in the future. One way or another it appears that he will likely be with the company for some time as it’s been reported that Fenix’s deal runs well into 2025.

Stay tuned for updates.
