The wrestling world is still mourning the loss of Bray Wyatt since his untimely passing a few months ago, but one thing that has been made clear is just how influential Bray Wyatt was throughout his career.
Last month at the AEW Full Gear pay-per-view Swerve Strickland wore gear that paid tribute to The Fiend during his match with Adam Page. During a recent appearance on Notsam Wrestling, Swerve talked about his thoughts on The Fiend while calling Bray Wyatt’s work with the character “brilliant.”
Swerve went on to say that he doesn’t think people really appreciated The Fiend, so he wanted to use the match with Adam Page at Full Gear as a means to show that Bray Wyatt’s influence lives on.
“I just wanted to show appreciation that the love and influence wasn’t lost. I’m a horror person, and I was really happy to see a new age of horror brought to the screen in an industry that I love and I was like, ‘Man, that was a revolutionary.’ I wanted to take a little piece of that into what I was doing [at Full Gear]. If anything, I feel like his spirit powered that match.”
