A lot of big moves have been made in the wrestling world over the last few years and Malakai Black first made his debut with All Elite Wrestling in July of 2021. Recently there’s been a lot of speculation regarding Black’s status with AEW, and it looks like he could potentially be on his way out of the company.
Fightful Select reports that those they spoke to in AEW believe that Malakai Black was finishing up with AEW if he hadn’t already. It was not clarified if Black is expected to appear on AEW programming again.
It was previously reported that there were option years after 2024. Previously Tony Khan had stated that Black was under contract until 2027. At this point it has not been confirmed one way or another if an option has been picked up, or declined, or if Malakai Black’s contract is up.
As of right now Malakai Black is still listed on the roster page on AEW’s official website. Black will be in action this weekend as he’s currently set to face off against Orion at the Coastal Championship Wrestling event in Tampa, FL on January 11.
