After winning the AEW World Title at All Out back in September, CM Punk then spoke at the post-show media scrum and he raised quite a few eyebrows when he took shots at Colt Cabana, The Elite, MJF and Adam Page. CM Punk and Ace Steel were then involved in a physical altercation with The Elite and Punk has not appeared on AEW programming since.
Dax Harwood of FTR formed a friendship with CM Punk after Punk joined AEW, and during an episode of his FTR with Dax Harwood podcast the former AEW Tag Team Champion noted that that he FaceTimed with CM Punk after the locker room brawl.
“I was like, ‘Dude are you okay? Do you need me? I’ll come right now to help you out or get you cleaned up or whatever. He said, ‘No, no, everything’s fine. It’s died down, we’re good.'”
There are two sides to every story and that mentality certainly applies to CM Punk’s physical altercation with The Elite at All Out, and Harwood explained that he thinks only a partial version of the truth has come to light.
“It only seems like we’re only getting a portion of the story or what this journalist wants to put out. Whether he has a bias or whether he has a grudge against one of the other parties, that’s just how I felt. I know what I perceived to be the truth, and from the things that I’ve read and heard, there’s partial truth and partial things that are a bit exaggerated.”
It was reported following the brawl that AEW was in talks to buy out CM Punk’s contract, but that has not been confirmed by either side. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
