In recent months talk of backstage drama in AEW has been making the rounds, and it looks like business picked up before the TV tapings on Wednesday night.
TMZ reports that Sammy Guevara and Andrade El Idolo were involved in a backstage altercation at the Entertainment Arena in Washington D.C. prior to Dynamite which led to Andrade being sent home.
According to the report words were exchanged between Guevera and Andrade then the situation escalated and things got physical. Sammy allegedly pushed Andrade El Idolo and then punches were thrown, but it’s unclear if anyone got hit. Sources were said to be adamant that the altercation was not part of an AEW storyline.
Sammy and Andrade have been trading shots on Twitter and sources say that several wrestlers are unhappy with Sammy for airing personal issues in public. Originally Pres10 Vance vs. Andrade El Idolo in a Career vs. Mask match had been advertised for Rampage, but Tony Khan announced earlier today that the match has been pulled. It’s worth noting that Andrade recently posted the following on Twitter:
