CM Punk made his long awaited return to professional wrestling when he debuted with AEW in 2021, but right now his status with the company is in question. Punk hasn’t appeared on TV since the All Out pay-per-view in September of 2022, and following the show it was reported not only that he was injured during the main event, but also that he was involved in a physical altercation with The Elite after the show.
It was also later reported that Chris Jericho called CM Punk a “cancer” backstage, and Seth Rollins recently fired shots at Punk when he called him a “cancer” as well.
Current AEW commentator and WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry shared his thoughts on CM Punk on Busted Open Radio and he indicated that he thinks Punk is good for the pro wrestling business.
“He’s not a cancer. He’s opinionated, but he’s also a teacher and supporter. I’ve seen him do stuff he didn’t have to do. He just did it because he loved the business and he wanted to make that wrestler better.”
“I think that he’s good for pro wrestling. At the end of the day, he’s good for business. He’s good for the education of those young wrestlers he took a liking to.”
At this point it’s not clear when, or if CM Punk will return to All Elite Wrestling. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
