CM Punk hasn’t appeared on AEW programming since the All Out pay-per-view back in September of 2022, but he will be back sooner than later as Tony Khan has confirmed that Punk will be part of the debut episode of AEW Collision.
When Tony Khan first announced on Dynamite last week that CM Punk would be returning for Collision the announcement seemed to get a mixed reaction from the fans who were in attendance.
Matt Hardy recently discussed CM Punk’s return on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, and he noted that he thinks it’s going to be interesting to see what type of reactions Punk gets.
“CM Punk, he is a huge star, so him coming back is a big deal. It’s just gonna be really interesting to see what kind of reaction he gets. I know when the Young Bucks were in Chicago, they were getting booed out of the building. They were polarizing. It’s gonna be interesting to see how CM Punk’s reactions are as well, especially with how smart the All Elite Wrestling fans are.”
Matt Hardy also commented on rumors that Punk could be facing Samoa Joe when he returns when he said, “That’s probably a best-case scenario, I would guess.”
