A few years ago John Cena started calling The Undertaker out on the road to WrestleMania 34, and fans were left to wonder if The Deadman would be accepting Cena’s challenge. John Cena showed up to WrestleMania as a fan, but his challenge was answered and The Undertaker ended up defeating him in a short match.
During a recent interview with The Wrestling Classic current AEW star Ricky Starks opened up about his relationship with The Undertaker and he noted that he sparred with Taker while he was preparing for his match against John Cena at Mania.
“Taker’s like my guy. Taker’s my favorite wrestler of all time. The wildest thing is that as I got older, I actually met him. I had him watch one of my matches for the indies. I sparred with him in preparation for his match against John Cena at WrestleMania. I kept in touch with Taker still to this day when I see him, still the same, ‘Hey man, how you doing? I’m proud of you.’ That’s what he’s told me, he’s proud of me and I’m doing great so yeah, it’s really wild to go from that to sitting on a couch with [someone] that you loved when you were growing up.”
Ricky Starks will be in action on AEW Dynamite next week when he faces Chris Jericho for the first time ever. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
