Since All Elite Wrestling was officially announced in January of 2019 a number of former WWE stars have joined the roster.
Shawn Spears was one of the first wrestlers to make the jump from WWE to AEW, but during a recent interview with WrestleTalk he revealed that WWE offered him a different position before he left.
“[In WWE], we were relied on a lot to help younger talent. We enjoy helping younger talent. I was asked to be a coach on numerous occasions before I left.”
Even though Spears didn’t accept the coaching job with WWE, he does co-own a wrestling school with Tyler Breeze, who was also part of the interview.
Unfortunately for Spears he wasn’t being used all that much on WWE programming, but his TV time has increased significantly since he joined AEW.
The former WWE star has aligned himself with Tully Blanchard, and at this point there’s no telling how far he will go.
