AEW first launched in 2019 and there are a number of wrestlers who have been with the company since day one. Shawn Spears is one of the names who has been with All Elite Wrestling since the early days, but it seems that his run with AEW will be coming to an end soon.
Fightful Select is reporting that Shawn Spears will become a free agent on January 1. It’s being said that it is an amicable departure between Spears and AEW. Shawn Spears confirmed the departure when he posted the following statement on social media:
“What a wonderful time it has been.
Thank you @AEW for allowing me to be there from the ground level. It’s been a fantastic 5 years of growth and personal development.
This is a personal choice and one that is best for me and my family at this time.
Thank you to all, staff and talent alike for the memories ❤️

Most importantly, to the incredible fans of ALL professional wrestling:
I love you guys.
I really do.”
Shawn Spears last wrestled in an AEW ring during AEW All Out Zero Hour, and he last wrestled on Dynamite in May of 2022. Prior to joining AEW he worked in WWE as Tye Dillinger.
