Mercedes Mone has been on quite the journey over the last few years as she parted ways with WWE in 2022, and since then she’s made appearances in several different promotions.
Back in October, Mercedes Mone attempted to make a surprise appearance at a CMLL event, but unfortunately things didn’t work out. The TBS Champion recently recalled the details in her Mone Mag when she explained that she was hoping to set something up through Rocky Romero.
“When I first landed, I saw a poster for CMLL. So, I texted Rocky [Romero] to see if I could make an appearance. It was right down the street from the hotel that I was staying at. But Rocky didn’t get back to me because he was in Japan, and I needed him to get in. So, Rocky, be warned, I will punch you the next time I see you because I really wanted to make a surprise appearance at CMLL.”
Rocky Romero had a chance to speak with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful and he told his side of the story while admitting that he dropped the ball on the CEO.
“I know. I apologize. I saw her yesterday. I apologized to her. It was so funny. It was like 4 or 5 AM. I was in Japan. So I was doing my best, I promise. I was doing my best. It was very last second. She’s like, ‘I would love to do something.’
So I reached out to CMLL immediately and was hoping to get some kind of response back and while waiting for the response, sometimes you’re really tired and jet-lagged. I may have missed a call, but yeah, the panic that was on my face, when I woke up and to all these mixed calls, I’m sweating. I’m like, ‘What is—oh, no, no, no.’ I totally fell asleep.
So, yeah, I dropped the ball. But good thing it wasn’t a major, major CMLL show. It was like an outside show and it wasn’t like Arena Mexico or something like that. But it would have been cool. So sorry, Mercedes.”
