Back in December Sting shocked the world when he made his AEW debut during the special Winter is Coming edition of Dynamite, and since then the WWE Hall of Famer has aligned himself with Darby Allin and returned to the ring.
It’s safe to say that there are probably a good number of talents in AEW who would love to wrestle Sting, and AEW Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes is one of them.
Cody recently spoke to Inside The Ropes and he noted that Sting was his favorite wrestler growing up, and that he’s modeled the babyface he’d like to be after Sting. The first ever TNT Champion then went on to say that he was adamant about wanting to do a match with Sting, and he’s still hoping it happens.
“I absolutely was adamant about wanting to do a match with him and it’s not something that’s been discussed or contracted or anything like that but, while he’s here, I still would hope that it happens. He’s such a huge part of who I am and he was such a d*ck to me on the second week when he showed up, and I love that. And I love his love for my dad as well. Sting is a big part of what we do. What a different company when you can have Sting there and Jack Evans in the same company. That’s what AEW does better than any. It’s such a diverse roster.”
