Fans have seen some big matches on AEW programming in recent years, and you never know when two top stars could end up facing off inside the ring. Mercedes Mone and Athena have been two of the big names in their respective women’s divisions, and it sounds like they could be facing off sooner rather than later.
Fightful Select is reporting that those they’ve spoken to confirmed Mercedes Mone vs. Athena is the plan. Some are claiming that that the match could happen as soon as the AEW Dynasty pay-per-view.
Athena and Mercedes Mone have previously worked together, and even teamed together, but they have yet to face off in a one on one match. They have not worked together since 2018. Athena has been the ROH Women’s Champion for over two years and Mercedes has been the TBS Champion for almost ten months.
AEW Dynasty will air live on April 6, 2025 and the current card can be seen below.
