Last year the stars of AEW and NJPW came together to present the Forbidden Door pay-per-view and it’s happening once again this year as AEW is currently building toward Forbidden Door II.
So far a few big matches have been confirmed for the show and in recent months fans have wondered if Mercedes Moné could end up on the card. Unfortunately Mercedes Moné is currently out of action due to a broken ankle which means that she has been sidelined for the time being.
Sports Illustrated is reporting that multiple sources close to Tony Khan have confirmed that there were significant discussions with Mercedes Moné about an appearance at Forbidden Door II. Unfortunately Merecedes won’t be at Forbidden Door II due to her injury, but it’s believed that the discussions bode well for a possible future appearance.
Back in March, Mercedes was asked about her status for Forbidden Door II, and she indicated that she was open to being part of the event when she said, “Ooh, when is it (AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door)? Is it June? June or July? Okay. What day? I don’t know when the show is. Anybody know the date? I don’t know, we gotta see then. June’s so far. I think I could be open, July might be open but, gotta get that phone call. Gotta get that phone call from unc.”
Stay tuned for more updates on the status of Mercedes Moné as they become available.
