On Tuesday night AEW went head to head with NXT, and NXT was the brand that came out ahead in the ratings. NXT drew 921,000 viewers while AEW Dynamite drew 609,000 viewers. Tony Khan reacted to the ratings by posting a tweet claiming that, “John Cena and The Undertaker both appeared on a WWE show with under 1 million viewers for the first time in their respective careers.”
Fightful Select reports that several people in AEW were surprised when Tony Khan posted a tweet about John Cena and The Undertaker drawing less than a million viewers. The belief is that Tony Khan doesn’t clear his tweets with a PR department before posting them.
People who spoke on the subject noted that there wasn’t any real concern. Most of the reaction reflected on social media and the line of thinking that Tony shouldn’t have tweeted at all, or that it was Tony trying to have fun with a situation that didn’t favor him.
Another source pointed out that right after posting the tweet Tony Khan was promoting matches for next week’s Dynamite while people were visiting his profile.
