Admit It, The WWE Isn’t As Good Without CM Punk And Daniel Bryan And You Know It

Admit it, WWE isn’t as good without CM Punk and Daniel Bryan and you know it. Go ahead, get it out of your system, call us marks, say we love “internet darlings” do whatever you’ve got to do. Ok, are you done? Good. Let’s get down to it.

CM Punk and Daniel Bryan were the two most entertaining stars to hit WWE in years. They trumped everything in their path and you know it’s true. These two superstars together or separate created storylines that are just timeless and even if you dislike them you have to admit that statement is true. When you look back at the PG Era, you will remember John Cena, you will remember Batista, you will remember Randy Orton, you will remember the streak ending, you will remember Shawn Michaels retiring but you will vividly remember when CM Punk walked out with the WWE Championship and you will vividly remember Daniel Bryan raging against The Authority.

CM Punk vs. Daniel should have been the PG Era’s Stone Cold vs. The Rock, but let’s face it, WWE didn’t want that to happen and they wouldn’t let that happen. These two performers had a great feud but they should have headlined WrestleMania. It didn’t happen, it’s not going to happen and any chance of it happening has completely gone out the window, but that’s ok.

The worst thing about that PG Era is that so many performers were willing to just go along with the status quo, but not Daniel Bryan and not CM Punk. What made previous eras so special was the that certain performers wanted to push the limits of what was acceptable. During the Golden Era, Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage changed the game. During the New Generation Era, Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart pushed the limits of what professional wrestling could be. During The Attitude Era, The Rock and Steve Austin redefined professional wrestling completely. During the Ruthless Aggression Era, Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero transformed everything you thought you knew about professional wrestling. During the PG Era, CM Punk and Daniel Bryan were the ones that broke the mold and moved the genre forward. You may be willing to admit it now, you may not, but when history looks back at this era, you will have no choice but to admit that it’s true.

Since CM Punk walked out and Daniel Bryan was forced to leave due to injury, the WWE has seen a gradual decrease in entertainment value. That is to no fault of the performers. Guys like Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and others are great as well, but they simply need more time to develop and become familiar with the WWE audience. CM Punk and Daniel Bryan were already at the top of their game.

When you look back at the PG Era, as much as WWE wants you to, you won’t think about John Cena’s 10,000 title reigns, you will think about CM Punk’s 434 day title reign, and Daniel Bryan raging against The Authority. These two performers didn’t just give us the storylines we needed, they gave us the storylines we deserved. Cry all you want about how CM Punk walked out but he certainly made the most of his time while he was here.

Things have changed since these two have been off the screen and it just hasn’t been the same. That’s not the WWE’s fault in any way, shape or form but if the past few months have proved anything it’s that CM Punk and Daniel Bryan have left a hole that just can’t be filled.

CM Punk may never be back and Daniel Bryan’s future is up in the air. We hope that these two return, but if they never do then one thing is for sure, they’ve carved out a legacy that will last forever. We still hold out hope that we will see Daniel Bryan face CM Punk in a WrestleMania main event but we’re realists and we understand that it may never happen.

When history looks back at the PG Era it will remember CM Punk and Daniel Bryan fondly and you will too. At this point, we may never see these two in a WWE ring again, but their contributions so far will never be forgotten. Bryan and Punk had what WWE needed to carry the company to new heights that it may not reach for quite some time. Talk all the trash you want, but you know that these two gave everything they had every single time they stepped in the ring.

People talk about the PG Era and some people claim that it’s transitioned into the Reality Era. The fact of the matter is, you can’t even speak of the Reality Era without mentioning CM Punk and Daniel Bryan. The whole concept of the Reality Era was supposed to be built upon WWE building storylines that were created from backstage politics that played into television angles.

When it came to CM Punk and Daniel Bryan it became hard to tell the difference between story and reality because their storylines were reality that was turned into storylines. This made WWE interesting again because it created an element that had yet to be exploited. No other superstars at this point would be capable of creating this appeal and the truth is that the Reality Era may never get into full swing with their absence.

The future of the WWE is dependent on WWE pushing boundaries and although the WWE may have bright spots at the moment there’s no denying that pretty much no one right now is pushing boundaries. CM Punk and Daniel Bryan pushed boundaries naturally each and every week and without them, WWE has just been more of the same.

Like we said, we will most likely never see them main event WrestleMania, but this match is a preview of everything that could have been, and it’s a preview of the WrestleMania main event that we as fans deserved.
