This week Brock Lesnar made a surprise appearance on WWE SmackDown Live, and Paul Heyman challenged Kofi Kingston to a WWE Title match on The Beast’s behalf.
Now the match is set, and Kofi Kingston will be defending his WWE Title against Brock Lesnar on the October 4 episode of SmackDown when the show debuts on FOX.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter speculates that it would make sense for SmackDown to start its run on a new network with a title change, and with Lesnar as champion since FOX wants more of a sports feel.
It was reported earlier this year that FOX wanted Ronda Rousey on SmackDown, but this way they would get Lesnar.
It was also noted that everything involving Lesnar goes through Heyman, and Heyman always tries to with shocking things at times like this.
