Drew McIntyre knows what it’s like to make it to the big time and then lose it all. McIntyre was dubbed “The Chosen One” by Vince McMahon early on in his career, but he was then released from WWE several years later.
However, McIntyre didn’t give up, he just pushed harder after he was released by traveling the world and making a name for himself, and eventually he was offered a new contract with WWE.
Now he’s fighting against complacency, and he recently told The State-Journal Register that he thinks some people in the locker room have lost perspective.
“I can look around now and see people who have lost perspective. They’re perhaps tweeting about how upset they are and their lack of opportunity instead of bettering themselves or working harder outside of the ring. They’re clearly not going to the gym and they don’t have that fire anymore, and I understand it because I was there. And I can spot it because I was that guy. It’s my job and my character’s job to get rid of those who don’t necessarily have that fire and remind me of my younger self.”
