You never know who’s going to appear on WWE programming when you tune in, and earlier this year former WWE Champion Rey Mysterio surprised fans when he entered the Royal Rumble match.
Since then Rey has openly said that he’s negotiating with WWE, and it looks like he could be returning sooner than later.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Mysterio is very close to returning, and he’s getting ready to finish up his last independent dates in September.
WWE officials pushed the idea of bringing him in sooner as a way to keep him off All In on September 1st.
However, Rey is still set work All In, and it was recently announced that he’ll be teaming up with Fenix and Bandido to take on The Young Bucks and Kota Ibushi.
