aj styles

We’ve been reminded time and time again, but you can truly never say never in the world of professional wrestling.

There was once a time when fans thought that WWE would never sign AJ Styles, and after he joined the company at the Royal Rumble in 2016, many people said that he would never become WWE Champion.

Here we are in 2018, and AJ Styles is the current WWE Champion, one of the top stars on SmackDown Live and one of the biggest merchandise sellers in the company.

But there was once a time when AJ Styles was the face of TNA, and Conrad Thompson recently told Sports Illustrated that the topic of next week’s episode of Something Else to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard on WWE Network will be AJ’s run with TNA.

“We’re going to cover from October 2010, which is right when Bruce came into the company, and we’ll carry it right to July of 2013,” said Thompson. “AJ was a TNA original, so when he parted ways with TNA in 2013, history changed forever. That exodus, with AJ leaving, started an immediate sharp decline in TNA.”

Times have most definitely changed as WWE refused to acknowledge TNA for many years, but it appears that the two companies are on much better terms now.

WWE licensed footage from Impact Wrestling for their latest Hardy Boyz DVD, and the company also plugged the Global Wrestling Network after showing footage of AJ Styles and Kurt Angle’s time in TNA during a recent episode of Table For 3.
