Dolph Ziggler has been a vital part of the WWE Universe for years now and it looks like he’s experiencing yet another career rejuvenation. Albeit it is a rather confusing one as he won the United States Title and then promptly left it in the middle of the ring the next week on SmackDown Live to take off for a few months until his Royal Rumble return. So far that whole US Title vacation hasn’t even been addressed by Ziggler and I think we deserve some kind of resolution on that cliffhanger.
But Dolph Ziggler is back and he was quickly inserted into the WWE Championship picture and has the chance to pull down SmackDown Live’s top title at Fastlane.
There were recent reports saying Dolph Ziggler was making a whopping 1.5 million dollars a year under his new multi-year WWE contract. When this subject was brought up on Wrestling Observer Live yesterday, Dave Meltzer didn’t quite believe those numbers. It was suggested Dolph is making a lot of money for his extraordinary talents, but the report of 1.5 million a year could be a little inflated.
“It’d be unlikely because they usually top everyone off at a million,” Dave Meltzer said on Thursday’s Wrestling Observer Live. “So there are extenuating circumstances […] and usually the guys at a million are a little higher in the pecking order than Dolph. So I don’t know, I can check but based on the usual salary structure that sounds very unlikely.”
When someone asked Bryan Alvarez the next day if Dolph Ziggler was making $600,000 a year, he asked the listener to refer to yesterday’s episode. Therefore it sounds like until some kind of official word comes down on the matter we won’t know for sure. But the general idea is the previous estimate of 1.5 million dollars a year for Ziggler is probably over exaggerated.
