The Undertaker had what some fans thought was his last ride at WrestleMania 33 when Roman Reigns gave him his second loss at the Grandest Stage Of Them All. Taker took off his entrance attire in an orderly fashion and left them folded in the middle of the ring while he took what many considered was his final exit.
But a year later there is talk of The Undertaker coming back once more. Fresh off a hip surgery, the 52-year-old WWE legend very well could come back for another match and the thought is it will be against John Cena if it happens.
But The Undertaker’s appearance at Raw 25 didn’t lead us anywhere close to an answer to whether or not he was returning for another match. If anything, it left us even more confused than before.
“Here’s all I know and everyone’s not going to like this response, but I think [The Undertaker vs John Cena] is happening. But I don’t know,” Bryan Alvarez commented on Wrestling Observer Live. “Until it’s official, I mean you may as well just presume that it ain’t happening. Because plans change all the time.”
“I know that as Dave [Meltzer] noted there was at least one Royal Rumble scenario at like a week or two ago that involved Undertaker being in the Royal Rumble and he wasn’t in the Royal Rumble. And so I don’t know if Undertaker felt like he was good to go but — and this is all speculation, but then he went to Raw 25 and bounced around the ring and was like, ‘dude I’m old I got a new hip, I can’t do this.’ I don’t know what happened.”
He then went on to say that he knew the belief backstage was that this match was still taking place, but you can never know what will happen in WWE.
“I know that in the company the belief is that its Undertaker vs John Cena but it may be, it may not be.”
Essentially, it’s only a matter of time before we know what WWE’s plan is for The Undertaker because WrestleMania 34 is going to happen on April 8th regardless of whether or not Cena vs Taker is booked for the card.
The Road To WrestleMania is full of twists and turns and The Undertaker’s involvement is certainly a huge point of speculation at this juncture. But one thing’s for sure that WWE is going to put together the best pay-per-view they can because the world will surely be watching if Ronda Rousey is going to be a part of the Show Of Shows this time around.
But in all honesty, WWE has plenty of time to pull John Cena or The Undertaker in any direction they want for the big show. Since Cena is in the Elimination Chamber match, that’s probably going to be his focus until it’s out of the way and Roman Reigns wins to secure his match against Brock Lesnar at Mania. But that sweet spot of February into March is sometimes a favorite for The Phenom to make his re-emergence.
Then again, you never know with WWE and every match at Mania could be Ronda Rousey facing a different member of the Women’s Division. After all, she seems to have upset enough of them with her Royal Rumble debut, especially Sasha Banks.
