Next month is November, which means the annual Survivor Series pay-per-view will be airing on the WWE Network. Last year’s pay-per-view was built around a Raw vs. SmackDown theme and it appears that we could be seeing a similar theme this year.
On this week’s episode of SmackDown Live, WWE Champion Jinder Mahal challenged Brock Lesnar to a match at Survivor Series, and Brock is set to answer the challenge on Raw next Monday.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the mentality backstage at WWE is that Brock Lesnar vs. Jinder Mahal is not a major match, and it’s just something that’s being used to put Lesnar on a big show and get him to bigger matches.
The idea of doing a Raw champion vs. SmackDown champion match at the pay-per-view had been floating around for some time, and it was noted that Lesnar taking a loss to Mahal would make no sense after he’s picked up big wins over guys like Goldberg, Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman.
For months now Finn Balor has been teasing that he will be going after Brock Lesnar and challenging for the Universal Title, and it’s likely that the title match between Lesnar and Balor will happen at the Royal Rumble.
The current plan is still for Brock Lesnar to carry the Universal Title into WrestleMania 34 where he will defend against Roman Reigns.
