Big Cass set off on his own after kicking his little buddy Enzo’s head off multiple times. In fact, he’s kinda made it his hobby at this point.
If you don’t like Big Cass on his own the point is he’s a heel so you shouldn’t like it. If people hate Big Cass, then WWE is doing their job. Dave Meltzer recently noted on Wrestling Observer Radio WWE is doing their best to keep heat on Big Cass and they’re going with what they know works.
However, that might not last forever for the former Certified G.
“Cass is gonna get a big push so he’s going to be on TV” Meltzer said. “The one thing about Cass is guaranteed to get heat if he works with Enzo. They’ve proven that. So, and it’s a risk with anyone else — it seems like the thing with Cass. He is getting more heat than I expected on his own. But I don’t know — it’s like the people are really mad at him for turning on Enzo because they liked the team so much.”
“But I don’t know what kind of legs Cass is gonna have on his own when people have kinda like forgotten about, ‘eh you know what? We’re over this Enzo and Cass team now’ when he goes on his own. But as long as he’s in there with Enzo, it’s guaranteed heat because that’s right there — you know it’s what everyone’s mad about. So if you’re gonna give him a three-minute squash win — plus it’s the story line and it’s got Big Show involved.”
When Bryan Alvarez brought up the fact that we just saw Enzo vs Big Cass on PPV, Meltzer noted, “yeah this is TV” so they did the match on Raw too just in case anyone had a doubt Enzo could take a bump for Big Cass.
But for the time being, if it’s not broke don’t fix it. People hate seeing Big Cass beat up Enzo, so that’s what WWE is going to do as Big Show’s rivalry with Cass takes shape.
Meltzer speculated Big Cass is going to be set up in a match to win over Big Show at SummerSlam. But the jury’s still out on Big Cass as the further he seems to step away from Enzo his limitations as a singles performer might come to the surface.
How do you think things are working out so far for Colin Cassady as a singles star?
