NXT has become a proving ground for some of the most talented wrestlers in the world, and several former Impact Wrestling stars have found success with the brand. Bobby Roode is the current NXT Champion, Eric Young is also working with NXT, Samoa Joe had a great run with the developmental brand, and Gunner recently made his debut at a live event.

James Storm is one star who fans had hoped to see join NXT, and the former TNA World Heavyweight Champion James Storm briefly joined the promotion a few years ago. In the fall of 2015, James Storm made his NXT debut, but in January of 2016 he decided to part ways with NXT and sign a new contract with TNA instead.
The move left many fans confused, as Storm seemed to be a great fit for NXT, but according to the former World Champion, it was all about timing.
During a recent interview with USA Today’s For The Win, Storm opened up about his departure, and he says that Triple H left the door open for his return if he ever decides to step in between the yellow ropes again.
“Everything is about timing. I didn’t think it was the right time. I was treated with respect when I went down there, Hunter (WWE executive vice president Paul ‘Triple’ Levesque and I talked about things. He just said, ‘At the end of the day, you have to do what’s best for you. If things don’t work out, you have my number. Give me a call.’ It was great for him to say that to me. At the time, I don’t think I was ready for it with some stuff with my family life and my personal life to take care of. He understood that. It had nothing to do with wrestling. But never say never is the wrestlers’ motto that we live by. If it presented itself, I would talk it over my family again and see what we could do.”
