Aleister Black made a name for himself as Tommy End, but now he’s blazing a new trail in NXT. Black was one of the most popular stars in Europe, and William Regal recently told ESPN that they’ve been keeping an eye on him since he was 18 years old.
According to Regal, he kept tabs on Black and when the time was right he reached out to him. Regal went on to say that some wrestlers just don’t look like they could harm anyone, but Aleister has the look of a fighter, along with other attributes that he and Triple H look for when recruiting talent.
“We look for a lot of things, but the number one thing that we look for — and if I suggest anybody to Paul, he will always say it — ‘Do they actually look like they can beat somebody up?’ Because the key thing to what we do, and there’s a lot of wrestlers out there, unfortunately, who will get offended by this, but they just don’t look like they can do anything physical to anybody. Some of that just comes with time. Over time, your face hardens up and you just look more like a fighter. Aleister just fits that bill because that’s what he is. He is a kickboxer, and he’s been through the wars a bit. You can just see life in his face.”
As far as Triple H’s opinion of Aleister Black goes, he had nothing but good things to say about the up and coming NXT star, and he appears to have high hopes for his run with WWE’s developmental brand.
“Aleister Black is very talented,” said Levesque. “I think he’s going to be a player.”
