hall of fame

The WWE Hall Of Fame started an interesting tradition last year when they introduced the Legacy Wing. Each year the Hall Of Fame inducts a handful of modern day superstars and usually one celebrity. But for years, people have complained WWE is forgetting about certain legendary names from professional wrestling’s historic past.

Last year’s inductees into the Legacy Wing of the WWE Hall Of Fame were Mildred Burke, Frank Gotch, George Hackenschmidt, Ed “Strangler” Lewis, Pat O’Connor, Lou Thesz, and “Sailor” Art Thomas. That is an outstanding list of significant names to say the least.

WWE is obviously planning on doing another round of Legacy inductees this year and although they might have wanted to keep the names under wraps, it looks like WWE Shop has let the cat out of the bag.

On the bottom of the official 2017 WWE Hall Of Fame t-shirt it lists the legacy award inductees. You might not recognize all of these names, but we assure you without their contributions to professional wrestling, sports entertainment might not be the same today.

These men and women paved the way into making professional wrestling the household topic of conversation it is today. Although their matches might not be the stellar high-spot fest modern day fans are used to, it doesn’t make them any less great. Don’t forget, these people lived in the days where kayfabe was alive and well, therefore they had to live their gimmicks because their livelihood depended on it.

This outstanding list of legends includes Judy Grable, Toots Mondt, Rikidozan, Farmer Burns, Luther Lindsay, Dr. Jerry Graham, June Byers, and Haystacks Calhoun. Any one of these influential names could have been a nominee in the regular WWE Hall Of Fame, but we’re very glad they’re being included in some respect.
