A few years ago Rusev was swiftly moving up the WWE ladder as he was feuding with John Cena. Rusev and John Cena ended up battling each other at WrestleMania 31 with the United States Title on the line, and Rusev made quite the entrance when he arrived via tank.
Rusev’s entrance was one of the most talked about entrances after the show, which is saying something because Triple H’s entrance included a whole bunch of Terminators, and it’s something that he’ll never forget. The Bulgarian Brute and his wife Lana were recently guests on Talk Is Jericho and Rusev admitted that the moment was surreal (via Wrestling Inc).
“So we’ve been joking about this for a long time because ‘[John] Cena at ‘Mania, we’re going to have [an] army and all that.’ And then, the day of came and it’s time for us to go to the stadium and there’s this tank. And I’m like, ‘what is this? What?’ ‘Yeah, this is part of your entrance.’ I’m like, ‘what?’ Like, I couldn’t even… My mind couldn’t… They said, ‘yeah, we’re going to have these guns and we’re going to have these people with the flag with the uniforms. And I was just like, ‘whoa, this is not happening.’ It was surreal.” Rusev continued, “it was amazing. I feel like that [has] got to be one of the best entrances of all time.”
Yes folks, The Bulgarian Brute brought a tank to WrestleMania and there’s no denying that it was impressive, but unfortunately for Rusev his grand entrance didn’t help him beat John Cena, as it was Cena who walked out with the United States Title in the end.
